The Bambu Lab Smooth PEI Plate is a double-sided build plate for those who want a clean underside and reliable adhesion. The plate consists of a matte Smooth PEI sheet on a magnetic spring steel plate. This allows you to print parts with a smooth, matte bottom that looks neat right out of the box. Ideal for visible work, housings, and parts where the underside remains visible.
A major advantage of Smooth PEI is the higher Z-axis precision. This is particularly noticeable with parts that need to fit well. Think of snap connections, covers, mounting parts, and printed circuit boards with tight tolerances. The sheet helps to keep vertical dimensions more consistent, resulting in fewer "almost" fits.
The magnetic spring steel base (0.5 mm) ensures strong adhesion and helps prevent warping, especially with larger models and materials that warp more easily. You can print not only PLA with it, but also PETG, TPU, ABS, and nylon-like materials. For everything except PLA, the use of glue is recommended to prevent damage to the PEI layer and to make detachment easier.
